What you need to know about Gamescom 2018

Gamescom 2018 is only a month away and we can’t wait for its return. The festival of gaming takes over the German city of Cologne for almost an entire week, giving us announcements, hands-on with some of the biggest upcoming games, and much more.

Here’s your guide for what to expect from this year’s show!

What is Gamescom?

Gamescom is a gaming convention open to the press and public alike. There are public booths where paying visitors can play amazing unreleased games, and business areas where the media will chat with developers.

How big is it? Well, over 355,000 passed through its doors in 2017. Meanwhile, E3 2017 had an attendance of 68,400. That makes it one of the biggest gaming shows in the world.

Where and when is Gamescom?

Gamescom is held in the German city of Cologne. However, it’s spread over two locations. The main exhibition is held at the Koelnmesse from Tuesday the 21st of August to Saturday the 25th of August.

Meanwhile, the Gamescom city festival takes place in Cologne’s city centre from Friday the 24th of August to Sunday the 26th of August. If you’re lucky enough to be heading over to Gamescom, pop on over to the city festival for street-food and live music!

What can we expect to see?

Some of the confirmed games that will be playable at this year’s Gamescom include Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 2, Soulcalibur 6, Darksiders III, and Biomutant. However, expect that list to grow over the next few weeks as publishers begin to announce what they’re bringing to the show.
