Ubisoft have revealed Watch Dogs Legion, set in a future London that has been taken over by a mercenary force called Albion. You control a rebel army called Dedsec, who are trying to take down the oppressors.

Intriguingly, the game lets you scan people across the city to discover their specialities, then recruit them to Dedsec. But they can also die in the line of duty, and once dead, they stay dead.

In the demo, a chap called Ian is scanning crowds to find an expert hacker to deal with the drones that plague the cities. But he alerts the security forces, and after a dramatic chase is killed in Trafalgar Square. Then play switches to an OAP named Helen, who uses a spider-like robot to infiltrate New Scotland Yard. And then goes on to take down a few coppers with a stun gun.

It seems that to recruit new members to Dedsec, you first have to play their origin mission – and in the demo, recruiting Jimmy involves rescuing Jimmy the drone expert from an interrogation session.

Watch Dogs Legion is set for release on 6 March 2020.
