It’s been mere weeks since Netflix’s The Witcher came out, but already there are a ton of mods available to make the game look and sound more like the TV series. And they’re just a small drop in the ocean compared to the mountain of mods created for the Witcher games over the years.

If you’re new to mods, they range from the useful to the frankly terrifying (if you’ve ever seen a Skyrim dragon replaced with an airborne, fire-breathing Thomas the Tank Engine, you’ll understand what we mean).

So, whether you’re looking to recreate the tiniest details of the Netflix show in-game, shopping for a new haircut for Geralt, or anything in between, you can be pretty sure there’s a mod for it somewhere. So here are a few of our favourites to start you off with modding The Witcher III to your heart’s content.

(A small disclaimer: not all mods will be compatible with each other, and bugs can occasionally be expected. Read the small print before installing and have fun!)

1. Become Henry Cavill

Wonder no more how you’ll survive the wait until season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher. With this handy little mod, you can play through The Witcher III as the dashing Henry Cavill, so it’ll be just like a continuation of the TV series.

Let’s be real, if a roaring monster came charging at you in real life, you’d probably scream and dive into the nearest bush to hide. This mod lets you hide behind a shield no matter what’s being thrown your way, from monster claws to arrows.

3. Make a style statement

Geralt’s default hairstyle is fine, but with this mod, you could make a name for yourself as the most fashionable Witcher around with one of these stylish hairdos. Even the angriest monster would stop and swoon at the sight of these.

4. Study monsters up close

Okay, this one’s just plain useful. You don’t really get to appreciate the detail that goes into monster design during battle, so simply load the 3D models into the bestiary and admire them at your leisure instead.

5. Practice mindfulness as Geralt

It’s a tough job being a Witcher, so once in a while you deserve a break. Take a seat, watch the HUD slide away, and enjoy a gloriously uninterrupted view of the spectacular world around you. Ahh, so relaxing.

Bonus: Toss a coin to your Witcher

This one’s actually a mod for the first The Witcher game, but keep your fingers crossed for its arrival in The Witcher III one day too. Add one of the catchiest songs ever aired on TV into the original game, sung (of course) by Dandelion/Jaskier himself. We guarantee it’ll be stuck in your head for the rest of the week.
