Super Mario Maker 2 might have only been out for a handful of days, but it has already seen some incredible levels that will either a) impress you with how fun they’re to play or b) push your skills to the absolute limit. Sometimes, it might even be both.

Thanks to the game’s intuitiveness, it’s easy to pick up and get beavering away on your own Mario masterpiece, but don’t let that distract you from some of the stellar levels that are already out there. Here are 5 of our favourites so far…

1. Banzai Bounce – Matt Thorson

Level Code: Q43-GXB-WHG

We’ll admit that we’re a tad biased here, as Matt Thorson is the creator Celeste, one of our favourite indie games from last year. His knack for designing addictive platforming levels is on full display in Banzai Bounce, where you have to time your jumps across some terrifyingly large Banzai bullets.

2. Super Skyzo – PangaeaPanga

Level Code: 9C4-7NB-M0H

Speedrunner and streamer PangeaPanga loves making the sort of Mario Maker levels that will make you tear your hair out in rage, and Super Skyzo is no different. Here he is tackling it himself, and we can’t wait to see what other devious courses he’s designing.

3. Spring has Switched – Kona

Level Code: J7D-9L6-THG

This clever level from Kona will test your brains as well as your thumbs, with its tidal wave of switches you’ll need to trigger to get through the level. It also gets bonus points from us for a rather sneaky 10 coin hidden towards the end of the level…

4. Ghost House Challenge – Mateus

Level Code:L6C-KOV-92H

This one is so good, it was even featured on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel. Mateus’ spooky offering has four different areas for you to explore, and plenty of Boos for you to avoid. Just make sure you’re playing it in the daytime, you wouldn’t want those pesky ghosts invading your dreams.

Back to Gameboy – NewQuentin

Level Code: 8T3-11F-D6G

While more experienced gamers may remember playing as Speedball Mario in Super Mario Land on Game Boy, younger ones might wonder what this grey and green version of the plumber is all about. Fortunately, NewQuentin’s level will get you up to speed on this old school version of Mario.
