The summer holidays are here, and while the kids are thrilled by the prospect of all that freedom, you might be feeling slightly daunted by the idea of organising six long weeks of fun.

So how can you survive the summer without anyone getting bored, going stir-crazy, or spending a fortune? Luckily we’ve got plenty of ideas, and some of them even involve heading out into the great outdoors…

1. Time flies when you’re having fun

Maybe you’re sat in the airport waiting for your flight, or maybe it’s pouring with rain and the grand day out has been postponed. Fortunately, games are a great way to make the time fly by until the fun part of the holiday really begins.

Take beloved games on the go with a handheld console, like a Switch, 2DS, or 3DS, or settle down with the whole family at the end of a busy day of adventuring and blast through family games on a PS4 or Xbox. Check out our special summer handheld and console deals right here.

2. Get the same great games for less with pre-owned

If there’s a particular game you or your child have had an eye on for a while, you might just find it for less in our pre-owned range. There’s a whole mountain of amazing titles to choose from, like Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, Forza, Call of Duty, Halo, and much more.

Can’t pick just one? You don’t have to. Grab selected pre-owned games at 2 for £30, or 4 for £20. So you could always get one for you, too…

3. Keep in contact with friends

Gaming doesn’t have to be a solitary pursuit, and with so many multiplayer games to choose from, it’s never been easier to play games with friends.

You’ll need headphones with a microphone to keep up to speed with your friends if you’re playing online multiplayer, or if you’re playing side-by-side, grab a spare controller so nobody gets left out. And if you want your stuff to stand out from the crowd, check out colourful controllers here and handheld console accessories here.

4. Spend time in the great outdoors

Summer in the UK can be a little temperamental, so when the weather is nice, you might as well make the most of it. Take your favourite games on the go with a handheld console or Switch, or transform Android phones into a handheld device with a handy gamepad controller.

Or if you’re looking for an excuse to have some fun in the sun, fly a drone through a home-made obstacle course in your garden, or get a bird’s-eye-view of the scenery.

5. Get the whole family playing
