It’s kind of hard to relax at the moment. With all the stuff going on in the world right now, stress is understandably quite high, but games can be a fantastic way of relaxing. Whether it’s escaping into another world, or a simulation of real-life with a gorgeous art style and chill music, games are a salve during these stressful times.

We consulted you, the GAME community, about your favourite calming games, and while some of your choices were, lets say, unconventional, you created a great list. These are your choices for calming games to help relax in the current crisis.

Some of you chose relaxing indie games such as Journey’s desert wandering, and Firewatch’s summer spent discovering a national park.

Whereas others favoured games that simulate life a little more, like Animal Crossing…

Or Shenmue, or The Sims, which popped up a few times as well.

As well as the Yakuza games.

Open worlds also proved especially popular with The Legend of Zelda, Skyrim, and No Man’s Sky as popular choices.

Some of your choices, like God of War, were a little less expected…

Or the fact that Bloodborne and Dark Souls both appeared.

And some choices were game types that many would consider stressful in themselves.

But different people find different things relaxing, and some players just prefer to take out their stress in other ways.

It goes to show you – one size never fits all when it comes to games. Honourable mentions also to Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Abzu, Two Point Hospital, Portal and many others. If you want more recommendations, you can find the full thread of calming games on Twitter.
