Using the cloud

If you’re a subscriber to PlayStation Plus, backing up your saves is a doddle. From the PS4 menu, simply navigate to the Account Management menu under the Settings tab. From here, select ‘Application Saved Data Management’. Now select, ‘Data in System Storage’ and then ‘Upload to online storage’. Now you can manually select which save games you want to upload to the cloud. All PS Plus subscribers get 100GB of free space, which should be more than enough to house the saves of most game libraries.

You can also choose to have your game saves upload automatically by choosing the ‘Auto-upload’ option, but be warned that this will fill up your cloud storage much quicker!

Using a USB drive or external hard drive

If you don’t have a PlayStation Plus subscription, or just prefer to back your saves up to a physical device, you can copy saves to a USB drive (or memory stick), or an external hard drive. Simply plug in the drive to one of your PS4’s USB ports, and provided it’s compatible, you will be able to copy your saves over. Go to ‘Data in System Storage’ and select ‘Copy to USB Drive’. Once this is done, you can remove the drive and plug it into another PS4 system to copy the saves over!

That’s it! You should now be able to keep all your saves secret and safe for evermore. Looking to upgrade your console hardware? Head over to GAME.co.uk to shop PS4 Pro consoles.
