Could Bioware be hinting at a new entry in the Mass Effect series, or could a remake or remaster be in the works?

Bioware have posted cryptic hints that might indicate a new game is in the works before, but now there’s a lot of hints.

The studio have posted a short clip on Twitter of the first game’s intro sequence, accompanied by the iconic soundtrack (oh, those memories) and a shot of the original box art, fuelling speculation that a remaster or even a remake might be on the way in the near future.

In and of itself, this doesn’t say a whole lot. “Mass relays” refers to the network of ancient portals that the Mass Effect universe uses to teleport between different stretches of space.

But this tweet comes on the heels of another tweet posted a week earlier, which used a line from Mass Effect 2…

And there’s more. While those two tweets put together might hint that a remake or remaster is on the cards (and we’d be a-okay with that), there’s also a chance that the next instalment in the series is something totally new.

Every year, Mass Effect fans (and Bioware) celebrate the series on 7 November, or N7 Day, often with a mountain of incredible fanart and a collective outpouring of memories. This year, Bioware’s Project Director Michael Gamble turned to the community to casually ask what they wanted to see from Mass Effect in the future.

Naturally, a lot of responses involved asking for a new game, something which seems all the more possible when you take a look at the Mass Effect Twitter account, where there’s a whole slew of retweets in the vein of the following…

Coincidence? We think (or rather, hope) not!
