What’s next up on your to-play list this May? If you’re scrambling for ideas, there’s a whole stack of incredible games on special offer in our Must Play May sale. You can check out the full set here, or read on for a few of our own recommendations.
And so in no particular order, here are a few games which we think really stand out from the crowd. Which one will get to skip right to the front of the backlog queue?
1. Far Cry New Dawn
It might be the post-apocalypse, but that doesn’t mean the world is now a dried-up wasteland. Hope County, Montana is a riot of colour, and it’s full of dangerous bandits, brainwashed cultists, and survivors prepared to do anything they can to survive. Explore, liberate outposts, and gather as many allies as you can… you’ve got far bigger problems than a measly bit of nuclear radiation.
2. Dirt Rally 2.0
Jump behind the wheel of some of the most powerful off-road vehicles ever made, and prepare to tear up the track as you race through a plethora of iconic locations across the globe. And you really will tear it up – you’ll need to fine-tune your car’s set up to cope with the challenging conditions as you battle the weather, the ever-changing road surface, and some truly formidable opponents.
3. Hitman 2
Combine stealth, sabotage, cunning, and the odd neon pink flamingo suit as you master intricate assassination strategies and take out your targets in style as the stoic Agent 47. And don’t forget, if you head to Miami before July 3, you can still have a shot at taking out Elusive Target Sean Bean. Er, sorry, “Mark Faba”.
4. Just Cause 4
You’ve arrived in the fictional South American country of Solís, a vast open world environment filled with deserts, snowy mountains, and extreme weather. Armed with a grappling hook, wingsuit, and pretty much anything else you can get your hands on, you’re on an explosive, madcap mission to uncover the truth about your past… and you’ll definitely end up causing some major creative chaos along the way.
5. God of War
If you’re yet to travel back in time to this brooding, monster-filled reimagining of Norse mythology, you’re in for a real treat. Join everyone’s favourite grumpy God of War Kratos and his young son Atreus as they reluctantly embark on a perilous adventure together, and take on everything from undead draugr to trolls and even angrier gods. Also, the soundtrack is glorious.
6. FIFA 19
This entry in the legendary football series scores the UEFA Champions League and Europa license, giving you the chance to add in new forms of rare players into your Ultimate Team. Meanwhile, the story of Alex Hunter, three years in the making, reaches its thrilling conclusion in The Journey: Champions. And, if you feel like getting really creative, you can always embark on a no-holds-barred brawl in the no rules game mode, one of several new game types introduced in Kick Off mode.
7. Marvel’s Spider-Man
New York City is under threat, but you’re Spider-Man, and you mean business. Hone your Spidey-skills and fine-tune your high-tech gadgets as you take on a host of powerful enemies intent on destroying the city, but be warned – doing the right thing isn’t always as easy as it seems. But difficult decisions aside, swinging between skyscrapers is always going to be marvellous fun (sorry). Just don’t forget to head down to solid ground and take a selfie with your admiring fans once in a while.
