Which characters will be in Mortal Kombat 11

Mortal Kombat 11 hands on

We’ve had our first glimpse at the fighter lineup for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11, and while we definitely recognise most of the characters, there are one or two fresh faces we can’t wait to see more of.

In amongst a whole pile of exciting gameplay reveals, we got to see some of the highlights of what will be a huge lineup of playable characters. Here are 9 of the characters we know we’ll be seeing for sure when we test our might on April 23!

1. Scorpion

With the distinction of having appeared in every Mortal Kombat game to date, resurrected ninja Scorpion makes a return with his famous spear attack.

2. Raiden

Everyone’s favourite thunder god makes an electrifying reappearance, and from what we know about the new game’s story so far, his past actions are going to have some pretty major consequences.

3. Baraka

Fan favourite Baraka, who made his first appearance in Mortal Kombat 2, is back and complete with those forearm-blades and pointy teeth.

4. Sub-Zero

With Mortal Kombat 11’s focus on alternate timelines, it’s not certain which Sub-Zero this will be – but we’re looking forward to finding out.

5. Skarlet

Originally introduced in a Mortal Kombat 9 DLC pack, Skarlet is a confirmed fighter for the new game, with her blade and blood-based fighting sure to be a visual (read: gory) spectacle.

6. Sonya Blade

The first female character to be added to the series in Mortal Kombat and a staple character ever since, Sonya’s armed with high-powered energy moves. Also, she’s being voiced by WWE star Ronda Rousey.

7. Geras

Capable of summoning sand spikes, hammers, and decoy clones, and armed with the ability to manipulate time, new character Geras looks to be a seriously formidable opponent.

8. Kronika

Newcomer Kronika is still largely shrouded in mystery. Able to manipulate time, she seems to be behind the appearances of alternate-timeline versions of the other characters. Whether or not she’ll be playable hasn’t yet been confirmed.

9. Shao Kahn

Final boss of Mortal Kombat II, and embodiment of all things bad ever since, Shao Kahn will be available as a pre-order bonus character this time around.
