The game, which is being developed by Crystal Dynamics, will let you play as Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Iron Man, with more heroes to be added down the line for free. Square Enix also promised there would be no loot boxes in the game.
A teaser trailer showed that Ant Man will be one of the characters to come, seemingly the Hank Pym version.
The game will be playable either solo or in coop with teams of up to four players online. It was also revealed that the heroes will also be customisable.
Avengers will feature an “all-new original story” that involves the team unveiling a new headquarters along with a helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. But an accident – or seeming accident – causes a huge explosion, which the Avengers are blamed for.
The game then picks up five years later, after the team has disbanded. Square Enix said in their presentation that: “It’s about losing what matters to you most and fighting to get it back.”
On top of that, Marvel’s Avengers has a number of stars voicing the characters in the game. It just so happens that a few of those stars worked together before in the Uncharted series.
Those are Nolan North as Iron Man, Troy Baker as Bruce Banner, and Laura Bailey as Black Widow. In the same order, those actors played Nathan Drake, Sam Drake, and Nadine Ross in Uncharted 4.
The other actors announced for Marvel’s Avengers are Jeff Schine as Captain America and Travis Willingham as Thor
Marvel’s Avengers will be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Stadia on 15 May 2020, and a playable beta will be dropping ahead of launch.
