Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is just around the corner, and with such a stellar lineup of characters to choose from, it’s going to be super tough to decide who’ll make it into your ultimate team of fighters.

But while the heroes of the Marvel and X-Men movies are sure to get a lot of love from fans, let’s not forget about some of the lesser-known characters on the list. You might not have heard of them before, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worthy of fighting alongside the likes of Iron Man and Captain America.

You might not have heard of them before, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worthy of fighting alongside the likes of Iron Man and Captain America.

So without further ado, let’s meet a few of the more obscure heroes, villains, and side characters on the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order cast list.

1. Elsa Bloodstone

Monster hunter and blogger Elsa Bloodstone is a legendary marksman, and her combination of two rifles, two handguns, and plenty of attitude make her an excellent addition to any team. Also, in the comics she’s totally immune to vampire bites, which must come in very handy in her line of work.

2. Crystal

The Princess of the Inhumans, Crystal is armed with the power to manipulate the elements at will. In the comics she’s also teamed up with the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, and hung out with the X-Men too, so she must be pretty darn good. With her superhuman strength and amazing reflexes, she’s a solid choice to bulk up any ultimate team of heroes.

3. Psylocke

Psylocke’s appeared before in both Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2, but the twin sister of Captain Britain still remains one of the more obscure heroines on the cast list. With her mutant psionic skills and powerful physical attacks bolstered by her ninja-like invisibility skills, Psylocke’s a worthy addition to any hero lineup.

4. Lockjaw

While Lockjaw isn’t actually a playable character in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, we’re still including him on our list because first off, he’s a dog and we love dogs, and second off, he just doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.

Born on the fictional island of Attilan (which started out on Earth and later got moved to the Moon), Lockjaw is capable of teleporting himself and others to space and back at will. The strength of his jaws are legendary and his powers of precognition come in extremely handy in a pinch. In short, he’s an extremely good boy.

5. Supergiant

As a member of ultimate bad guy Thanos’ team of associates, the Black Order, you’ll want to watch out for Supergiant. And if you don’t recognise her, that might be because she was the only member of the Black Order not to make it into the recent Avengers movies. Despite this absence, her ability to manipulate your mind, feed on your intellect, and throw things around with her telepathic talents mean that she’s sure to be a tricky villain to handle.

6. MODOK

Like many supervillains, boss character MODOK didn’t start out as a bad guy. While his situation in the game is still a mystery, in the comics he started out as a technician for a technological arms company who, after being experimented upon, becomes a hyper-intelligent being called MODOC (that’s short for Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing). Turning rogue, MODOC renames himself MODOK (short for the snappy Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing).

His characteristic oversized head (all that brain power has to go somewhere) and flying chair make MODOK instantly recognisable. Just watch out for his psionic abilities and talent for figuring out what you’re about to do before you’ve even thought of it.

7. Ultimo

If you think Ultron seemed like a tough bad guy to beat, wait till you meet Ultimo. This boss is also an android, but in comic book lore he’s been around for thousands of years after destroying the alien species that created him. With super strength, a near-indestructible body, and super speed to contend with, even the strongest hero team might have some trouble beating him.
