Layers of Fear 2 revealed in eerie new trailer

Layers of Fear 2 announced

Bloober Team and Gun Media have announced horror sequel Layers of Fear 2 in a terrifying new teaser trailer.

The video hints that this new installment in the spooky series could be set on an old-school cruise liner, as the camera moves across an empty deck.

Later on, we also get a glimpse of a body crawling out of something, while a narrator ominously intones “Before the world told you what you should be, do you remember who you were?” That voice belongs to Tony Todd, who horror fans will know as legendary horror character Candyman.

It’s all pleasingly eerie, and we’d expect nothing less from Bloober Team, whose original Layers of Fear quickly became a cult classic.

While the original game was themed around the world of art, this sequel seems to focus on the trappings of early cinema instead.

From the sound of a clapperboard at the end of the trailer, to one shot clearly showing a screening room, there a numerous references to the early days of film. Even the working title, Project Méliès, appears to be a nod to French film director (and marvellous moustache-haver) Georges Méliès.

While a release date hasn’t been revealed, the game’s website hints that it could be 2019. We can’t wait to see how our minds will be messed with this time.
