It’s been a while now since we first saw the gameplay for The Last of Us Part II at Sony’s E3 show, but it was enough to get people really excited about the game. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the Last of Us Part II’s previous release date of 21 February had to be pushed back. But the good news is that you’ll now be able to play it sooner than you might have thought.

The Last of Us Part II is now set to launch on 19 June. That’s right, you only have a couple more months to wait before you’ll be able to delve back into the post-apocalyptic world of Ellie, along with a whole cast of new characters (although we already know that Joel is returning).

A release date of 17 July was also announced for the highly-anticipated Ghost of Tsushima, meaning we’re going to have a busy summer of gaming for sure.

Though the release date is now fast approaching, there’s still quite a bit of mystery surrounding The Last of Us Part II. A lot of the basic details were revealed by the trailers, such as the fact we’ll now be playing as Ellie, and that she’ll have a love interest with another character called Dina, who is living in the same settlement.

But we’ve also been able to learn a lot about how the game might play by reading between the lines. For example, it’s clear that enemies are a lot smarter in The Last of Us Part II, and the game appears even more dynamic than the first, allowing Ellie to move through, and fight, using the environment around her.

It’s great news that it won’t be long before we get to head back into The Last of Us. If you’re as excited as we are, there are a bunch of pre-order options available, with some fancy extras, if you want to start the game in style on day one. GAME also has an exclusive standard edition if you want some cool extras like in-game upgrades and accessories, but don’t want to break the bank. Whatever edition you choose, you’ll get to join Ellie and Joel when the game drops on 19 June.
