Bungie’s massively-multiplayer looter shooter is officially free-to-play with Destiny 2: New Light. This means that new players can dive into all the content of Destiny 2 and its first two expansions for free!

Due to the sheer size of Destiny’s universe, and the varied content therein, actually starting to play the game can be overwhelming. Thankfully, your pals at GAME Media are here to break down what you need to do to access all the major story content in Destiny 2, in the simplest terms possible…

Destiny 2 has had five story-driven campaigns – The Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken, and now, Shadowkeep. To get the most out of the story of Destiny 2, you will want to play through all of these campaigns in order. Of course, if you don’t have time for that, you can just jump into whichever campaign you want to play at any time.

Once you’ve played through the opening mission, you’ll be thrown into the open galaxy with a huge wealth of content for you to get stuck into. To get to the campaigns, you will want to head to the Tower, Destiny 2’s hub world.

Once you’re in the tower, head to the Hangar, where you will find the chief shipwright Amanda Holliday. Under the heading Legacy Content, you will find The Red War, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind campaigns.

Although much of the Forsaken expansion’s content is included in New Light, (e.g. Strikes, Crucible playlists, and Gambit modes) to play Forsaken’s campaign you will need to purchase the Forsaken expansion. This will also give you access to Forsaken’s raids and exotic weapons. Similarly, to play the all-new Shadowkeep campaign, you will want to pick up the Shadowkeep expansion.

That’s everything you need to know about Destiny 2’s campaign modes! Destiny 2 is an ever-evolving world that never stays the same for too long, so keep it locked to GAME Media for all the latest.
