Halo Infinite release date

Surely the most important question of all is: when can I get my hands on Halo Infinite? A specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, but we do know that it is set to release in winter 2020. 343 Industries have also said that Halo Infinite’s development schedule is on track despite current events. So if all works out you’ll get to have a merry little christmas with Master Chief this year.

Halo Infinite Split Screen

One of the things that made the original Halo games so good was the split-screen multiplayer, and many gamers have fond memories of playing through the first three games in co-op. Halo 3 is often considered ahead of its time, and in terms of multiplayer and game mode creation, this is especially true.

That’s why it’s so exciting that Halo Infinite will definitely have split-screen. This is huge news after it disappeared in Halo 5: Guardians, and really confirms to fans that 343 Industries want to retain that aspect of Halo’s heritage as a local multiplayer game.

Halo Infinite Xbox Series X release

A variety of games have already been confirmed for the next-gen, but after Halo Infinite was revealed at E3’s Xbox briefing it was also added to that number. In Halo Infinite’s E3 trailer, we saw what the Xbox Series X could do. But Infinite isn’t only coming to Microsoft’s next-gen console – Xbox One and PC players will also be able to play Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite Forge Mode

While 343 Industries have revealed some info about Master Chief’s return, we don’t have tonnes of detail about the multiplayer yet. But one thing we do know for sure is that Forge Mode will be returning. Forge Mode is one of the many reasons that Halo 3 was so popular – a map and game mode maker that allowed you to create your own multiplayer games, and the maps on which they played.

In a similar way to mods, you could also share them with others, meaning the sky was truly the limit in terms of the game modes players could make. On the whole it added a huge dose of replayability to multiplayer, so it’ll be exciting to see it return in Infinite.

Halo Infinite Story

From the E3 2019 trailer we know that Master Chief is going to be the main character of Halo Infinite, following the tradition of the previous main series installments. We can also surmise from the events of Halo 5: Guardians that Cortana will most likely be the game’s villain. Other than that, details are relatively thin on the ground at the moment, but we can expect to discover more details as we find out more information about the Xbox Series X, and as we draw closer to Infinite’s release.

Halo Infinite Armour Customisation

Changing up your armour is a huge part of Halo multiplayer, and 343 Industries have said that people who enjoyed customisation in Halo: Reach will enjoy it in Halo Infinite. Considering Reach had the greatest depth of armour customisation in any Halo game, this is a positive sign for Infinite.

Halo Infinite Battle Royale

Though Battle Royale is undoubtedly popular, 343 Industries have confirmed that Halo Infinite won’t have one. As 343’s Lead Writer, Jeff Easterling was quoted saying: “The only ‘BR’ we’re really interested in is ‘Battle Rifle’”. A Battle Royale mode was originally in the works for the game, but 343 decided against it, instead favouring more classic inclusions like the return of Forge Mode.
