Among the excitement, there remains the obvious question – what setup do you need to play Half-Life: Alyx?

First of all, you’ll need a gaming PC. A quick look at Half-Life: Alyx’s minimum required specs reveals that you’ll need a PC with a quad-core i5 chip or better, a GTX 1060 or better, with at least 6GB of video RAM and 12GB of system memory. To be able to run Half-Life: Alyx at max graphics settings, you’ll probably want to look into picking up one of NVIDIA’s top-end graphics cards like the NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2080.

Once you’ve got your PC setup, you’ll need to look into getting a VR headset. The good news is that Half-Life: Alyx will run on a variety of VR headsets, so if you’re already a VR user, there’s a good chance you already have the setup required to play the new Half-Life game.

The game will be compatible with the Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality. The Valve Index is on the more expensive side, but comes with the game thrown in. For gamers on a budget, why not check out the Oculus Rift S? This package comes with everything you will need to play Half-Life: Alyx, including motion controllers and a base station.

Then you have the HTC Vive Cosmos. This headset can be equipped with a wireless adapter, allowing you to experience unprecedented freedom in your VR experiences.
