In gaming, twins are often the strongest of partnerships or the most vicious rivalries – and sometimes both. Here are seven gaming twin pairs that we just couldn’t live without…
1. Mario and Luigi
From: Super Mario Bros. series
We couldn’t have a list of gaming twins without the most iconic duo in gaming. Mario is often mistakenly referred to as Luigi’s older brother, but the pair are actually twins. The Mario brothers have been starring side-by-side in games since 1983 and are still going strong. That’s twin goals right there.
2. Dante and Vergil
From: Devil May Cry series
Moving on to a slightly more rocky relationship, we have Dante and Vergil. These two have never seen eye-to-eye and have numerous epic clashes throughout the series, including a particularly wild showdown in Devil May Cry 5. Can’t we just be civil, lads?

3. Palom and Porom
From: Final Fantasy IV
If you played Final Fantasy IV (which has an excellent remake on the Nintendo DS, by the way) you will no doubt remember this adorable brother and sister duo. These two are something of a magical yin-and-yang, with Palom wielding offensive Black Magic and Porom being the master of defensive White Magic.
4. Caroline and Justine
From: Persona 5
If this list was ‘Gaming’s Scariest Twins’, Caroline and Justine would undoubtedly be at the top. These two appear in the Velvet Room, doling out judgment to Personas.
5. Billy and Jimmy Lee
From: Double Dragon
These hardened brawlers are the titular stars of classic beat-em-up series, Double Dragon (in a figurative sense, that is. They are not literal dragons). These two don’t always get along, but can usually set aside their differences to beat up members of the Shadow Warriors gang.
6. Ice Climbers
From: Ice Climber
If their legendary status in gaming history wasn’t enough, the adorable matching parkas these two wear are enough to get them a place on this list.
7. Devola and Popola
From: Nier series
These twin androids serve a mysterious purpose in the Nier series, frequently appearing to aid our heroes in various precarious circumstances. Despite appearing to die on numerous occasions, Devola and Popola always manage to show up when they’re needed, so we suspect we haven’t seen the last of them yet.
