The first instalment in the Dark Pictures Anthology, Man of Medan follows a group of friends whose idyllic boat trip goes badly awry when they end up trapped on a ghost ship of the actually haunted variety. A ton of upcoming Switch games, including the deliciously spooky Luigi’s Mansion 3, will be available to go hands-on with if you’re attending Gamescom, or via new gameplay videos online if you’re not. 10. Death Stranding

gamescom 2019 confirmed games death stranding

Trailers and gameplay reveals so far have shown us a strange and dystopian future, set sometime after the cataclysmic (but still totally mysterious) “Death Stranding” event. It seems to be set in America, but that’s where normality ends – this is an America populated by invisible enemies, babies in pods, and cargo delivery men armed with telescopic ladders. It looks stunning, but could Gamescom finally be the moment that we start to understand what we’re looking at?
