The run-up to Christmas has officially begun. October and November are traditionally the biggest months of the year for games, mainly because it’s cold and everyone is staying indoors, so get ready to hibernate with these soul-warming offerings.
We blast off with Mega Man 11, the old-school action-platformer ushering the return of the Blue Bomber after an eight-year absence. Slow time, charge your shots, and crush Dr Wily’s robot rebellion (will that evil scientist ever learn?). A week later Forza Horizon 4 speeds into view, the Britain-set racer where roaming sheep present just as big a hazard as rival Subarus.
As if your shopping list wasn’t long enough, October the 5th sees the release of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Ubisoft’s historical adventure in which you’ll fight, sail, and romance your way through ancient Greece. The same day comes Super Mario Party, and then a little later, Dark Souls Remastered, a Nintendo Switch action-RPG that’ll test your composure in a public setting.
But wait, that’s not all. The likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Luigi’s Mansion, Lego DC Super Villains, and Soulcalibur VI make October unmissable, whether you own an Xbox One, PS4, Switch, or 3DS.
