What was your favourite game of 2018?

Best games 2018

Gaming had an outstanding year in 2018. From big hitters such as Marvel’s Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Forza Horizon 4 to compelling indie titles such as Celeste, Into The Breach, and Florence, there was something for everyone.

Choosing a favourite among those, and many more, games was always going to be tricky, but that’s what we asked over 1,400 gamers to do. To make things a little fairer, we let them rank their five favourite games, to work out an overall top ten.

Red Dead Redemption 2 topped our chart, with 37% of the group popping it in their top 5 list, with Marvel’s Spider-Man swinging into 2nd, and God of War charging into 3rd. On top of that, Ubisoft saw two of their titles make the list, with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Far Cry 5 in 4th and 5th place.

There was also a strong showing for Activision, with three of its titles making it into our top ten, in the form of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (which launched on Switch and Xbox One in 2018), Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Destiny 2: Forsaken.
