E3 2019 is happening in June, and loads of the biggest names in gaming have already confirmed that they’ll be attending. We’ve made a big old list of games that we’re expecting to see at E3, as well as taking a look at all the announcements we’re hoping to see from those big names. Next up on our list is Bethesda.
Bethesda’s event last year had a veritable mountain of exciting announcements, from Rage 2 and Fallout 76 right through to Doom Eternal and The Elder Scrolls VI. We’re hoping this year’s lineup is going to be even more jam-packed with news, but what are we most likely to see from Bethesda?
Bethesda have already announced that their theme for this year’s E3 showcase is “Be Together”, and so they’re extending a warm welcome to fans of all their games: Demons, Vault Dwellers, and Khajiits alike. But could this be a sneaky hint as to what games we can expect from their showcase?
Actually, the Demon hint is already confirmed, as Doom Eternal is a dead cert: Bethesda first announced the game at last year’s E3 and went on to confirm in their E3 announcement blog post that the gory shooter would be a highlight of this year’s showcase. Last year’s QuakeCon gave us a sneak peek at Doom Eternal’s gameplay, but we’re greedy and we want even more gore to look at, please.
Meanwhile, Wolfenstein: Youngblood was announced at last year’s E3 event, and with a release date of 26 July 2019, it’s very likely we’ll get to see more from this co-operative shooter spin-off. Incidentally, if you’re looking to brush up on your Wolfenstein knowledge before E3 begins, here’s everything we know about Youngblood so far.
We may also get to hear more about Fallout 76, as there’s a huge summer update on its way for the online role-playing game. We’ve already had a roadmap of how things are expected to unfold over the next few months, but there could potentially be more news in store.
After a single tantalising teaser trailer at E3 2018, one game we’re really desperate for news about is the as yet unnamed Elder Scrolls VI. Sadly, Bethesda director Todd Howard has confirmed that it won’t be making an appearance at E3 2019. If you think about it, we’ve just seen the arrival of The Elder Scrolls: Blades, Bethesda’s role-playing mobile game. On top of that, the next chapter of The Elder Scrolls Online, which finally lets us return to the Khajiit homeland of Elsweyr, is due for release on 4 June. Even so, we’ve been praying to every one of Tamriel’s huge pantheon of gods that we’ll get even the tiniest scrap of information about The Elder Scrolls VI. Or a trailer. A trailer would be good too.
Similarly, Bethesda’s E3 attendance confirmation incorporated a picture of a star-filled sky, fuelling speculation that the upcoming sci-fi space adventure Starfield might be making an appearance after its announcement at E3 2018. As with The Elder Scrolls VI, Todd Howard confirmed that Starfield will not be present at E3 2019. But again… we can still keep our fingers crossed for a trailer. And in any case, Starfield isn’t the only Bethesda series that takes place among the stars. We’re looking at you, Prey.
Bethesda’s showcase will be taking place on June 9 at 5:30 PM (PT). But of course, Bethesda aren’t the only ones who’ll be making big announcements at this year’s E3 event. You can check out the full E3 timetable here, or keep checking back to find out what we’re hoping to see from Microsoft, EA PLAY, Ubisoft, Square Enix, and Nintendo.
