The plot follows young Padawan Cal Kestis as he tries to avoid detection by the sinister Empire and its Purge Troopers in the aftermath of Order 66. With the ultimate aim of completing his Jedi training and restoring the Jedi Order to its former glory, Cal embarks on a dangerous journey across the galaxy accompanied by his droid BD-1.

EA Play brought us 15 minutes of brand new unedited gameplay, revealing that Cal is a lot more talented as a Jedi than we’d expected.

3 hours into the game, Cal is on Kashyyyk, the Wookiee planet which has been captured by the Empire. Cal runs, jumps and swings his way to a group of allies, who are in the process of infiltrating and recapturing an Imperial Refinery, which doubles as a prison camp for captured Wookiees.

Cal may be just a Padawan, but he seems to have a lot of Force skills under his belt already. Armed with a lightsaber, he can use his Force powers to knock heavy objects over, push and shove enemies around, freeze moving objects, and even stop bullets in their tracks (only to Force grab the Stormtrooper right into their path, which is pretty neat). He can also use his Force skills on himself to make traversing his environment easier, and can even relive the last moments of fallen enemies using his “Sense Echo” powers, which can give him invaluable hints about what lies ahead.

BD-1’s name stands for Buddy Droid, and this handy little friend is capable of hacking terminals to unlock doors and move objects around, restoring Cal’s health with health packs, and even acting as a handy little map for when Cal gets lost.

Enemies spotted so far include giant spiders, fire-throwing beetles, plenty of Stormtroopers, Flame Troopers armed with flamethrowers, and Purge Troopers armed with melee weapons designed to take down Jedi.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is coming on November 15!
