Nintendo have revealed that the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is coming to Nintendo Switch on 20 September 2019.
This is a full reimagining of the original 1993 Game Boy classic with an adorable new art style and a few additions and changes.
The new trailer starts up in a familiar place, as Link wakes up on Koholint Island, joining the friendly Marin as she takes him to her nearby home. Afterwards, we see Link embarking on his quest to escape the island, encountering a pesky raccoon, eating an apple, and enjoying a spot of fishing.
The trailer also shows him fighting a few of the monsters and solving puzzles in the game’s dungeons. But the biggest moment is when Link encounters Dampé from Ocarina of Time, who opens up a custom dungeon maker feature, similar to the course maker in Mario Maker.
You’ll be able to use the tile-based system to put down pre-made assets to form your own chamber dungeons. You’ll unlock more items for your custom dungeons by playing through the adventure. And if you beat one then you’ll unlock rewards.
There’s no word yet on whether you can share your dungeons with other players and play through those made by other people, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
