Microsoft have revealed the first glimpse of the Battletoads game that was announced at last year’s E3. The game is being made by DLaLa Studios and will continue the series that started on the NES in 1991, but which has been dormant since the mid-1990s.

The video footage showed the Battletoads on hover bikes, referencing the infamously hard hoverbike level from the original game. Although this time it was in 3D – and hopefully it will be a bit easier this time.

The main section of the game takes place as a side-on 2.5D brawler in which you can take control of Rash, Zitz and Pimple for three-player couch coop. The moves on display featured the toads’ trademark body-deforming abilities, with their hands morphing into giant fists, as well as the ability to grab enemies with their tongues.
