Microsoft has revealed footage from a previously unannounced Blair Witch game at this year’s E3 conference. The game is played from a first-person perspective, and sees investigators on the trail of missing people in the Black Hills forest. Also, you get a dog (he’s called Bullet and he’s lovely), and we’re thrilled about that.

The gameplay footage ends with the iconic scene in the cabin from the end of The Blair Witch Project, followed by the appearance of the series’ iconic logo.

The gameplay features camcorders in a similar way to the original film’s found footage format, although it’s not clear at this point how the cameras tie in with the gameplay. Looking through the viewfinder appears to reveal a man walking through the footage who isn’t in the game world.

The game bills itself as a “story-driven psychological horror game that studies your reactions to fear and stress”.

Blair Witch is set to release on Xbox on 30 August.
