Halo Infinite is considered to be a spiritual reboot of the Halo series. That means it will be a new story set after Halo 5 that will set the series and its gameplay on an even more ambitious path than before.

A new trailer titled ‘Discover Hope’ is our first glimpse into this. It shows longtime series protagonist Master Chief being awoken from cryogenic sleep. He arrives in the middle of a universe at war and sets out on a journey to find his place within it.

Developers 343 Industries say that Halo Infinite will be a great place for newcomers to the series to start. But they are also honouring the legacy of the universe fans have loved for the past 20 years. You can expect to see plenty of familiar faces, but there will also be new threats and wonders to discover.

Halo Infinite is being powered by the new Slipspace Engine, which will be used for future Halo titles. This new engine empowers the developers with fast and flexible tools that let them tell the story with both spectacular scenes and more intimate moments brought to life with camera work and facial capture.

Microsoft claims that Project Scarlett is the most powerful and highest performing console they’ve ever designed. So expect Halo Infinite to really show off its power and features when the two are released alongside each other in 2020.
