Bethesda revealed that Doom Eternal will be out on 22 November 2019. We also got an extended look at the first-person shooter’s aggressive and bloody action during the E3 2019 conference.

The sequel to the 2016 reboot, Doom Eternal will have you bringing a rocket-powered fight to the demons of Hell once again as they invade Earth. But not just them, as it seems that Heaven is also pretty annoyed with the Doom Slayer’s gory rampage.

The sequel to the 2016 reboot, Doom Eternal will have you bringing a rocket-powered fight to the demons of Hell once again as they invade Earth. But not just them, as it seems that Heaven is also pretty annoyed with the Doom Slayer’s gory rampage.

There will be new enemies, such as the terrifying Arch-viles from the original Doom II, Arachnotrons, and what seem to be powerful angels. Will God be in there, too? We’re yet to see. Levels are multi-tiered as in the 2016 game but will also have environmental traps for you to either avoid or make use of against the demon hordes.

The glory kills return so you’ll still want to charge at enemies for a brutal fatality that restores health. However, a new meter fills as you do glory kills, letting you deliver supercharged melee blows once it’s full. One of these, called the blood punch, releases explosive power in a radius around your target.

There will be new toys to play with, too, including a flame belcher, which is a shoulder-mounted turret that sets demons on fire and has them explode into armour shards. Most weapons will have an alternate fire mode, too. The most promising is a meathook – a grapple hook that attaches to demons and pulls you towards them. Get over here!

Other firing modes are a precision bolt, which lets you pick off enemies from a distance, as well as target weak points. Aim it at a head and you’ll blow it clean off. Nice. There’s also an arbalest that sticks rounds to enemies and then explodes. Plus a microwave beam that pumps your foe full of radiation that hurts nearby nasties. And a freeze gun. You know what that does.
