CD Projekt Red have hosted their first Night City Wire livestream, revealing new details about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. The first episode of this ongoing series revealed some fascinating new tidbits about the game. Read on to get caught up on everything that was revealed. New story trailer
Things kicked off with a brand new story trailer, giving us a fascinating look at life in Night City – specifically the seedy underbelly that we will inhabit in Cyberpunk 2077. Several new characters made appearances in the trailer, including Adam Smasher, a seriously imposing cyborg who we expect is going to give us more than a little trouble during our escapades. We also got some tantalising glimpses of gameplay including some intense shootouts, driving, and a brief appearance from Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand.
Probably the most surprising revelation of the night was that CD Projekt Red have teamed up with Netflix to produce an animated spin-off series called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. To work on the series, Netflix has drafted in Studio Trigger – the superstar animation house responsible for such hits as Kill La Kill, Gurren Lagann, and Promare.
Possibly the strangest and most fascinating mechanic coming to Cyberpunk 2077 is Braindance. This unique feature allows the player to take a deep dive into other characters’ memories to pick apart past events. In this mode you can manipulate the memories of your target and scan items to reveal clues that will further your adventure through the underworld of Night City.
Cyberpunk 2077 lands on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this November. CDPR have confirmed that the game will be backwards compatible with PS5 and Xbox Series X and players upgrading from one console generation to the next will get a free next-gen upgrade. We don’t yet know what this upgrade will entail but you can bet it will make Night City look even grittier.
