Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have a battle royale mode called ‘Blackout’

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have it’s own Battle Royale mode, Blackout!

The new mode will feature characters and weapons from the Black Ops series, including fan favourites such as Viktor Reznov, Alex Mason and many more. On top of that the map will be over 1,500 times the size of COD fan favourite Nuketown. Don’t worry though, it will also have land, sea, and air vehicles to help you traverse this huge new map.

Blackout was revealed during a huge community event out in Los Angeles, which also showed off what we can expect from multiplayer and Zombies this year.

In multiplayer, Black Ops 3’s specialists will be returning alongside new faces, with their own unique abilities that will help turn the tide of battle.

These include Ruin, who can zip across short distances thanks to a grapple gun, or Torque who can set up a barricade.

Each specialist in the game will have short, solo trial missions to introduce players to their abilities.

There are also some huge gameplay tweaks being introduced to the multiplayer mode. Unlike Black Ops 3, there’ll be no wall-running or jetpack boosting in this entry, while recharging health has been replaced with a new system where you have to manually heal yourself.

This year’s huge Zombies mode was also shown off during the event. At launch, it’ll feature 3 maps to play from the off. These are XI, Voyage of the Damned, and Blood of the Dead.

XI and Voyage of the Damned will start a new Zombies storyline which isn’t connected to the previous Black Ops Zombies narrative. Instead you’ll have a new cast of characters taking on an ancient evil. XI is set in a Roman coliseum with the trailer featuring melee weapons, while Voyage of the Damned is set on the Titanic. Watch out for that iceberg!

Blood of the Dead meanwhile is a remake of fan favourite Zombies map, Mob of the Dead.

On top of that, Zombies will allow you to add bots into your squad, adjust the difficulty, and will include a tutorial.

Finally, if you fancy playing before the October 12th release date, you can pre-order to gain access to the private beta!
