Black Ops 4’s zombie-themed update, Operation Apocalypse Z, goes live today

A new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 update is adding a whole heap of zombie content across the shooter’s three modes. Operation Apocalypse Z, as the update is dubbed, launches today on PlayStation 4 and brings an overhaul to battle royale mode Blackout’s two maps, a new specialist to multiplayer, as well as a new campaign to Zombies, alongside a raft of new cosmetics to kit your soldiers out in.

A new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 update is adding a whole heap of zombie content across the shooter’s three modes. Operation Apocalypse Z, as the update is dubbed, is bringing an overhaul to battle royale mode Blackout’s two maps, a new specialist to multiplayer, as well as a new campaign to Zombies, alongside a raft of new cosmetics to kit your soldiers out in.

In Blackout’s main map, you can expect the vibrant scenery to be looking a little worse for wear, as The Haunting Fog has brought dark clouds and even more zombies for you to gun down. Meanwhile Alcatraz is getting a new horde mode for you to try and survive. On top of that, you can expect to see more new weapons and characters in the battle royale mode.

In the game’s competitive multiplayer mode, Reaper returns to the battlefield with his heavy machine gun, the Scythe, which is sure to help you cut your way through enemy lines. On top of that, Black Ops Pass owners will also get access to three new multiplayer maps to battle it out on, including the fan-favourite Havana.

Finally, Zombies fans can enjoy a new campaign in ‘Alpha Omega’. This new experience will let you play as either Primis and Ultimis characters, a first for the series, and discover a whole range of new easter eggs to spend months obsessing over. What do they mean? You’ll have to play to find out of course…

They’ll be plenty more content dropping throughout Operation Apocalypse Z, including new Black Market Items, Pandemic mode in Blackout, additional game modes in multiplayer, and a new Gauntlet in Zombies. Check out the full roadmap for Operation Apocalypse Z below.

With Modern Warfare due to launch in October, there’s still plenty of time to rack up those prestige ranks in Black Ops 4. Especially now there’s a load of zombies roaming the maps…
