Turtle Rock, the creators of Left 4 Dead and Evolve, have just announced that they’re teaming up with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to make a new multiplayer zombie shooter game called Back 4 Blood. There’s no release date just yet, as it’s still early days, but what Turtle Rock have revealed so far about the upcoming game is intriguing.
Firstly, while it’s definitely not going to be a battle royale game, Back 4 Blood will have player versus player and campaign modes. And it should pack a punch because it’s been described as a premium, AAA game which is being built specifically for the large co-op zombie shooter community.
And despite the similarities in the names, the creators have been quick to explain that Back 4 Blood is going to be very much its own entity, rather than a sequel or prequel to the Left 4 Dead series. While it’s still going to involve a whole lot of zombie shooting, it’ll also have certain unique features.
According to the creators, the aim is to return to their roots while still finding ways to be innovative. As Chris Ashton, design director and co-founder of Turtle Rock Studios put it: “We get to return to a genre that was born in our studio with over ten years of additional experience and zombie ideas racked up in our brains”.
Back 4 Blood is currently set to be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but other platforms have not been ruled out.
