Animal Crossing Switch, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and more announced in Nintendo Direct

The latest Nintendo Direct dropped loads of info on the incredible games lineup coming soon to 3DS and Switch. From the deep city management of Cities XL, to HD remasters of several classic Final Fantasy titles, to a brand new experience from the makers of Pokémon, we’ve picked out the best moments from the stream.

Animal Crossing Switch

Move into the peaceful town Animal Crossing and live a second, much better life. You can go fishing, make friends with animal residents, and sync up the internal clock to enjoy in-game birthdays, Halloween, and Christmas. Just make sure to visit regularly or everyone gets sad.

Final Fantasy remakes

Let yourself swim in a Tidus wave of Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy XV : Pocket Edition is out NOW on Switch, while HD remasters of Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X 2, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles will be coming soon. We can never get enough Final Fantasy.

Cities Skyline

Create your dream tranquil towns or concrete jungles now with Cities Skyline. The metropolis-maker sports an easy new control scheme so you can drag roads and demolish boroughs with a swipe of your finger. It comes with the After Dark and Snowfall expansions as a bonus.

Super Mario Party

A whopping 80 mini-games here range from frantic river paddles, to pie-throwing contests, to flash frying food. You can compete locally, online, or even against the AI with Super Mario Party’s singleplayer mode.

Defend a peaceful enclave from invading threats in this cute and colourful monster-battler from the makers of Pokémon. Enlist the aid of townspeople and they’ll provide unique powers to help you. From the looks of things, you’ll need them.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

All courses from both New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U make their way to this perfect platforming package, as do two new playable characters in the form of Nabbit and Toadette.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Get ready to be spooked all over again, as Luigi is back chasing down ghosts in a mansion once more. We can’t wait to see more of this beloved series’ comeback on Switch

Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn

In the patchy lands of Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn, you’ll tug zips to open areas and attack enemies to make them unravel. New abilities refine the 2010 Wii original for this 3DS version, like an optional higher difficulty, and fresh minigames letting you play as Meta Knight and King Dedede.

Yoshi’s Crafted World

The crafty Wii U platformer is back in style on Switch, including the ability to flip the camera on a course and play it backwards, and a co-op mode for double the fun.

Civilization VI

We’ll end with Nintendo’s shock of the show: the sixth installment of Firaxis’ globally popular strategy game is coming to Switch. And even more shocking, there’s an exclusive four-player mode. You’ll want to choose your friends wisely.
