Alien: Blackout is a new chapter in the Alien saga starring Amanda Ripley, star of fan favourite survival horror game Alien: Isolation and daughter of Ellen Ripley.
It’s a mobile game that is coming to iOS and Android, where players will have to “try to stay alive while trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a deadly Xenomorph as it tirelessly hunts you and the crew”, according to developer D3 Go’s official site.
There’ll be seven levels for Ripley and her crew to attempt to survive, with “total defeat for Amanda and the entire station” a terrifying possibility. In fact, D3 Go are teasing there’ll be multiple endings depending on how well you do, by saying that players can “risk sacrificing crew members to avoid deadly contact [with the Alien], permanently altering the outcome of the game.” Looks like they’ll be some hard decisions ahead.
You’ll have to use the space station’s controls (which you san see above) to command your crew through areas, with an early screenshot showing options such as ‘Stop’, ‘Sneak’, and ‘Don’t Hide’. Why you would choose ‘Don’t Hide’ in a game with a Xenomorph prowling around is another matter entirely…
With events taking place between Alien and Aliens, this looks like it’ll continue where Alien: Isolation finished. Although there’s no confirmed release date just yet, we can’t wait to pick up that story again, and see if there are plenty of lockers for us to cower in.
